Mesothelioma Asbestos: Causes, Effects, Symptoms and Diagnosis

Mesothelioma (or more precisely, malignant mesothelioma) is a rare form of cancer that develops from cells of the mesothelium, the protective lining that covers many of the internal organs of the body. It's a very difficult cancer to diagnose.


The main cause of mesothelioma is when the body is when the body is being exposed to asbestos. Most people who developed mesothelioma have worked in asbestos producing companies and some other areas where they engaged in careers such as mining and in the process, inhaled asbestos fibres or were exposed to airborne asbestos dust.

Asbestos in buildings can also result in mesothelioma. Individuals always in very close contact with those who work in Asbestos producing companies also stand the risk of stand the risk of developing mesothelioma.

There are different signs or symptoms of mesothelioma which can easily be mistaken for everyday ailments, some of them include:

Muscle weakness
Fever
Cough
Fatigue
Night sweats
The diagnosis maybe based on Chest X-ray and C T  scan findings but must be confirmed either by examining serious effusion cytology or with a biopsy which is removing a sample of the suspicious tissue.
